The Call to be United for Democracy's Photographer

United for Democracy contacted Redline Designs by way of the Pastor Cathy Patterson to help capture their Week of Action before the 2024 Presidential Election. Their goal was to help activate people in Phoenix in getting interested in voting to help fix the Supreme Court so it’s more balanced in its decision-making for the future of the country. This project would take about 7 days to complete in the minimum and Redline was up for the challenge.

First up were Banner Drops. These were taking photos of their many banner drops advertising their events in several churches. There were churches all over Maricopa and Pima Counties which were unified in this mission.  This would help people get encouraged to get out the vote.

Events Captured in Phoenix and Tucson, AZ

The events lined up for this Week of Action had my fingers clicking. Besides the Banner Drops, there was the Last Line of Defense press conference with veterans of Common Defense featuring speeches from community members. Then a Creator Dinner which invited influencers to speak on their experiences and why the Supreme Court should be fixed and more balanced for all Americans. This was hosted by famed drag queen, Barbra Seville.

Chalking and Canvassing at Arizona State University had volunteers speaking to students about the importance of voting and inspired them to get to the polls. Also, art installations on the cement in chalk were displayed.

The Our Reproductive Freedoms event featured a panel discussion of women discussing their future choices and how their bodies would be legislated in the future. Stories were told as well as possible actions. Voting was a main point of discussion here.

Bingo Night sponsored by SuperMajority was a fun night to relax a little while learning a bit about the legislative process and American politics. Bingo helped young attendees learn more about how our American political system works.

What’s Going On? Order in the Court was held in Downtown Phoenix and featured a history of laws which divided this country and what was done to help bring people together as well as what can be done to balance justice more in the future.

The Results for United for Democracy

United for Democracy was extremely pleased with the results of the photos taken and how their story was captured. So much so, they called back for a Banner Drop and press conference in Tucson, Arizona and offered Redline Designs to captured that.

Being such a friendly and respectable organization, I jumped at the opportunity to work with them again and drove to Tucson to capture their event. I hope to work with them again as their working for a great cause and capturing their work is honorable.
